George Bill "Bill" William Flynn

January 23, 1920- March 29, 2013

George “Bill” William Flynn, 93, was born in Portland to Hubert and Leora Flynn.

He attended St Ignatius grade school, Franklin High School, and graduated from University of Portland in 1943.

Bill served in the Navy during World War II. Upon returning he started his lifetime career at Pacific Northwest Bell. Bill Retired in 1983 after 33 years of service.

Bill married June Audrey Madson in 1952 and raised their three children, Karen, Laurie & Steve, together until June’s death in 1983.

Bill married Gloria Rieschel in 1986.

He is survived by his wife Gloria; children Laurie Ann Flynn and Stephen Charles Flynn; grandchildren John William & Hanna Stupek, and Ian Madson Moore; great-granddaughter Sophia Rose Stupek; brother H Leo & Gloria Flynn; and his many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bill is preceded in death by his wife June in 1983 and his daughter Karen Mary Flynn in 2011.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am, Friday April 5th at St Clares Catholic Church in SW Portland. A wake will be held after the service at the “Old Flynn Home”. Graveside burial will be held at 12:00pm Tuesday April 9th at Willamette National Cemetery.

Bill suggested donations be made to the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute in Loving Memory of his daughter Karen Mary Flynn 1954-2011.
