Gaylen passed away due to complications from an extended period battling Alzheimer's disease. We are glad he is now in peace and comfort, with his beloved wife Galene.
Gaylen was born August 26, 1937, in Herrick, South Dakota, the second child of Robert Lecil Divine and Ferne Evelyn Johnson. He had 2 sisters, Evelyn who currently resides in Tigard, Oregon, and Sharon, who passed away in 2011. The family moved to Vancouver, Washington, in 1939, and he graduated from Vancouver High School in 1955. He married Galene Mildred Klausman in 1957, and they welcomed 3 children; Paul in 1958, Renee in 1961, and Sherri in 1962. He and Galene moved to Seattle in 1958, and he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington. He worked as a Software Engineer for over 40 years. The family lived in Seattle, Olympia, and a few years in Huntsville Alabama, and Indianapolis Indiana. Gaylen and Galene remained in Olympia after the children were grown, then eventually moved back to the Seattle/Everett area near their daughters, then finally to Bend Oregon to a retirement home. Galene, his wife of 62 years, passed away in 2019. He is survived by his 3 children, and 4 grandchildren, Kent and Laura Maier, and Lindsay and Benjamin Divine.
After the service and reception, he and Galene will be interred together into a joint niche, in a beautiful, peaceful location on a hill loverlooking to the southwest of Portland.
Gaylen is in the care of Skyline Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home in Portland, Oregon.
