Gary was born in Portland, OR to Randy and Susie Payne. He passed away at his home in Portland on Sunday.
Gary attended Sunset High School where he was an Academic Scholar and played on the baseball team. After graduation he attended Portland State for a year before taking a job with the US Postal Service, working with his father. Gary retired in 2009 after more than 30 years of service. Gary fought a 30 year battle with Bi-Polar Disorder as well as diabetes. He found solace in working on the family property, planting hundreds, if not thousands of trees, working in his garden and drives to the coast with his dad.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Randy in March of this year; and just recently, his cat, Princess. Gary will be remembered by his brother, David; aunt, Angela Miller; cousin, Karen Nordness, mother, Susie Salvo; his two cats, Miss Kitty and Blackie; and numerous life-long family friends.
A graveside service will be held at Skyline Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home on Mon., December 16, 2013 at 11 a.m.
