Edwin Wayne Krebs was born, June 3rd 1947, to Eva Armstrong and Edwin Welfel. Later, he was adopted by Harold Krebs. Growing up in the West Linn area with his twin sister Gretchen, half-brother Walter, and step brothers Rick and Loren, Ed or Eddie (as he was sometimes called) was a precocious and sometimes rambunctious young boy. He attended West Linn High School, was an avid wrestler, and had a love for cars and “having fun”. After graduating, Ed enlisted in the United Stated Navy as a diver and sonar tech on the USS Bugara from 1966 to 1970 during the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge, he attended Western Oregon University (formerly WOSC), pursued a career in law enforcement, and started a family. Throughout his ~30-year career in law enforcement as a Deputy Sheriff, he served in the following areas: jail, marine, patrol, narcotics, search and rescue, and the motors unit spanning three different counties in Oregon: Polk, Clackamas, and Lincoln. He retired in 1999. Ed served his country and community with compassion, commitment, and a strong desire to help others. Whether serving the public or in his personal life he was kind, fair, and trusted. His hobbies included: motorcycle riding, skydiving, flying, mountain climbing, repelling, spelunking, snow skiing, diving, fishing, and riding ATV’s. He enjoyed the study of paleontology and astronomy. He spent his life looking for adventure and “making memories” with his friends and family. If he wasn’t riding motorcycles and having coffee with buddies, he was riding quads in the sand or spending time with his children Brandi, Shayne, daughter in-law Kathi, and stepson Kevin. He loved to watch his grandkids Jacob, Harley, Lauren, Elle, and Paige participate in school and extracurricular activities. Ed enjoyed travelling. His favorite places included: visiting Colorado, Hawaii, Timberline Lodge, Disneyland, ocean cruises, fishing in Alaska, Florida, and Mexico, and anyplace he could connect with family and friends.

Our dad was all about creating memories and living life to the fullest. He loved his friends and family dearly and would do anything to help them out. Dad was a protector, a mentor, an adventurer, a helper, a friend. His smile was huge just like his heart. He will be deeply missed… We love you dad.
