He was born in Torrance, California, son of Cole Lane and Lucy Harris. After graduation from West High School in Salt Lake City, Utah, he attended the University of Utah for one quarter and then completed a two year LDS mission in the Gulf States. He attended Marylhurst University receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of Science in Management. He was a bank manager and education officer for first Interstate Bank for many years.
Education was always an interest to him. As a banker, he was involved in the American Institute of Banking and American Society for Training and Development. He was an instructor in banking and management courses for over fifteen years at both the bank and the local community colleges.
Edwin was involved in many professional and community organizations. As a member or officer he has participated with Kiwanis, Retail Credit Associations, National Congress of Parent Teachers, Salvation Army, United fund, Lions Club, Boy Scouts of America, Indochinese's Socialization Center, Portland Impact, and the Board of Directors for Portland Loaves and Fishes. He has been very active in many of his church callings as a Stake Mission President, Bishop, and member of the High Council of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a sergeant for seven years in the Engineer Corp. in the US Army.
His survived by three married daughters and young son.
A funeral service and graveside committal will take place on Saturday, October 29, 2016, 2pm, at Skyline Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4101 NW Skyline Blvd., Portland, OR.
Visitation will be held at Skyline one hour prior to the funeral service.
