A lifelong Portland resident, Doug graduated from Sunset High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Portland State University. His ”servant’s heart” was evident through 35 years of work with Providence Health and Services. He was never happier than when he could help his friends and family with various tasks, and served as a devoted caregiver to both parents. Doug was always an enthusiastic learner and enjoyed making and following his own investments.
Doug will be missed by his wife, Merry; stepsons, Jared and Dieter; brothers, Tom (Kim Manley) and Dave (Mary); sister-in-law, Katy Nadal; and nieces and nephews, Evan, Kara, Kristen, John, Karen, Brendan, and Sydney. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Evelyn, and his brother, Jim.
In remembrance, Doug would have encouraged people to do a good deed for a friend or family member, or alternatively to make a contribution to the St. Vincent Medical Center Guild or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
A Celebration of Doug’s Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Grace Chapel, 9600 SW Boeckman Road, Wilsonville.
