A celebration of the Life of Dorothy Lucille Benson will be held at 11am Saturday July 23rd at Valley Presbyterian Church in Beaverton, Oregon. Private interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park. Dorothy passed on to the loving arms of her Lord on July 7th in her residence at Canfield Place Assisted Living with her children close by her side. She was 93 ½. Born near Winston Salem, North Carolina to Charles and Bessie Redwine on January 5th 1923, moving to the Portland area after marrying her boss at the Army Depot in Columbus Ohio 1944. Mrs. Benson was a counseling secretary at Highland Park Junior High in Beaverton for 19 years, a founding member of Valley Community Presbyterian Church in Beaverton, where she was a Sunday school teacher and active with Loaves and Fishes. After retirement she ran the senior meal program at the Elsie Stur Center She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years Edwin Willis, and is survived by her son Edwin Benson (and his wife Jane) of North Bend, Washington; Daughter Sandy Perkin of Beaverton; 4 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Medical Teams International.
