Dear extended McGowan family, I'm so sorry to hear about Dory and for you loss that you are going through. I'm so sorry I lived so close and had never reached out to you guys. Dory was always so sweet to us as kids and I always remember her and uncle Bobs generosity and happiness.  I would love to reconnect with you guys at some point. I mostly remember Kay and Tim because of our age. Take care and know that we are truly sorry for our loss.

There was a matriarch that lived in a green house on Longview Street. A stairwell, lined with small hedges on each side, led  up to the front door of a woman who greeted and embraced all who came to visit with a BIG SMILE.  

Every boy & girl in the Overlook neighborhood grew up playing "hoop" on her & her husband's Longview and Failing Street corner - including my brothers and myself. And it would be on this all important corner where our son, Greg, would meet his future wife; her granddaughter, Erin.

This matriarch, Delores/Dorrie McGowan, was our smile on a rainy day. She was our perky intelligent who drove herself everywhere and stopped to have a middle of the street conversations with us. 

She is our memories of words said to ussome funny, some kind and some wise.

Delores was a thread woven into the fabric of our beloved Overlook neighborhood and for that we are forever thankful.

She will always be our light and our joy!

Kat, so sorry to hear about your mom.  She was one of my favorite people to visit when I made it back to Overlook. I loved the talks in high school in her kitchen  while she was getting ready to go to the coliseum.  She always had time to make sure we had our cookies. She was a class act.

Aunt Dorrie was one of a kind.  Like so many others she meant the world to me and she will be missed very much.  My heart goes out to the entire family, you are ALL in my thoughts and prayers.

Our sincerest condolences to the entire McGowan family. Dorrie was a true lady, always a kind word , and a smile! Sorry we will not be able to be there for the service, but please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers.

I met Dorrie when I was in 8th grade and she was my mother in law for 22 years. She has always had a very special place in my heart and she always will. I am so glad that I was able to spend one of her last days with her while she was in the hospital. May she rest in peace knowing how much she was loved.
