Portland, Oregon is known for the clouds that bring rain. Dima Ghandour left us on May 16, 2014. In Arabic, Dima means raincloud. In Oregon, where Dima spent her adult life happily married to Mazen Fadel, we love the rain. It brings life and renewal to the earth and its people. Dima’s rain brought a perfect child into the world, Noor Fadel, who loves her mama with all her heart. Dima nourished the lives of her husband, Mazen Fadel, her parents, Ibrahim and Aida Ghandour, her brother, Jihad Ghandour, and of her sisters, Rima Ghandour and Mona Flores, and their families. Her love nurtured the lives of her nephews, nieces, in-laws, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Dima battled the chronic illness that shadowed her since birth with every fiber of her being, and her life is a testament to one person’s enduring dignity of resistance. Dima was, is and always will be a beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and an integral part of the family she enriched with her love and charity. We miss her greatly.
A celebration of Dima will be held at the Fred & Suzanne Fields Ballroom in the Mark Building of the Portland Art Museum on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Mercy Corps.
Arrangements under the direction of Skyline Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, Portland, OR.
