Diane Clara Lewis

September 3rd, 1939 – November 13th, 2023

Diane Clara Lewis was born in Syracuse, New York. She was the one of five siblings, and the eldest child of her parents Harry C. and Elizabeth J. Hoover, and her stepfather Victor Bradt. She was raised in Jamestown, New York. She attended Dewitt Elementary before moving overseas with her family to France in her teen years, due to her father being stationed there in the military.

Diane met her husband, Bob Lewis, in 1956 on a blind date at the Pamona State fair. The two married in 1959, and had three children together. The family moved to Falls City, Oregon in the late 60s, then on to Portland in the early 70s. Diane and Bob retired from Boeing after very successful careers. After 52 years of marriage, her husband Bob lost his battle with cancer in 2011.

Diane was always very active. She loved the outdoors, boating, fishing, camping with family and friends, and touring the West Coast and Canada on a motorcycle with her husband Bob. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and creating beautiful handmade crafts. She and her husband also spent much of their time building and perfecting their retirement home, as well as operating a small business in Damascus, Oregon.

Diane had an immense love for animals. Growing up, our home always had room for pets. Later, she would go on to rescue a number of animals into her loving care. Her current rescue dog, Rosie, and cat, Mittens, will be well cared for by family members.

She will be remembered as a strong, loving, caring wife, great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, sister, and friend. She was very strong in her faith and very strong in her family. She never complained, and was always willing to do something for others.

Diane leaves behind her siblings Gary, Sally, Dawn, and Les, her children Debbie, Donna, and Bobby, as well as her grandchildren Matt, Jennifer, Michael, Jessica, and Paige, and her great-grandchild Austin James.

She will be missed by many, as she was loved by all who met her.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request contributions be made in Diane’s honor to Christ the Vine Lutheran Church at 18677 SE Hwy 212, Damascus, Oregon 97089.

A memorial service for Diane will be held Friday, December 1, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Christ The Vine Lutheran Church, 18677 SE Hwy 212, Damascus, Oregon.

Private Family Inurnment will be at Willamette National Cemetery.
