Dennis Michael Virnig, 85, of Portland, Oregon, passed away on January 9, 2024. He was born on August 12, 1938, in Minnesota. Dennis grew up in Vancouver, WA and Portland, OR, where he met his beloved wife Mary at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church during a dance in 1953.
Dennis proudly served in the Army from 1957 to 1959. After his military service, he pursued higher education at the University of Portland, where he earned his undergraduate degree in Engineering in 1964 and an MBA in 1974.
Dennis was a dedicated member of All Saints Catholic Church for many years. His faith played an important role in his life.
Dennis is survived by his loving spouse, Mary H. Virnig, and their children, Deanne Street, Vicki Virnig, Dennis Virnig Jr., Thomas Virnig, Michael E. Virnig, and Mary M. Virnig. He will also be deeply missed by his cherished grandchildren, Nicole McDonald, Michael J. Virnig, Tom Street, Ben Street, Alex Street, Max Virnig, Mason Virnig, Rylan Virnig, Mackenzie Hanson, Macall Virnig, Delaney Virnig, Jake Virnig, Joshua Virnig, Jerry Virnig, Nick Virnig, Xavier Hallian, Alexandra Hallinan, and Quinn Hallinan. Additionally, Dennis leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Dresden Virnig, Xander Virnig, Henry Hansen, Millie Virnig, Monroe Virnig, Zeppure Virnig, Lilly Street, Benson Street, and Noah Street.
A Funeral Mass in memory of Dennis will be held on Wednesday, January 23rd at 11am at All Saints Catholic Church, located at 3847 NE Glisan St. A Rosary will take place 30 minutes before the Mass. A Committal Service will be held at Tuesday, January 23rd at 1pm at Willamette National Cemetery.
Dennis will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his faith, and his service to his country. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
