She was born March 28, 1955 in Garden City, Michigan, the daughter of Charles M and Martha E (Baughman) Wilcox. She spent most of her young life in Michigan, moving to Oregon for the first time in 1970. She spent the next 10 years in Oregon, and in 1981 re-moved to Michigan. In 1990 she once again made the cross country trip to the state she had come to love, and remained there until her death.
Deborah was an avid fisherwoman and spent many hours fishing for sturgeon on the Columbia and Willamette rivers. She liked the big fish! She enjoyed travelling, camping, hiking, and just spending time in nature. She was an avid darts player, playing for many years in the Medalist Dart League, and also threw a few steel tip darts. She also enjoyed playing pool when she wasn’t throwing darts. Deborah loved animals, especially dogs. She raised “Pit Bulls” for a number of years, both in Michigan and Oregon. She was an avid supporter of “Pit Bull” rescues, and was constantly trying to show people what loving and loyal dogs they could become. Deborah was an artist, but gave up her paints for a camera, becoming an accomplished photographer. In 1996 she and her partner Nancy started a small business which encompassed her love of photography and her skills as an artist.
She had many occupations, but bartending was her favorite and the one she would always fall back on. She always had stories to tell of her bartending experiences. Deborah loved life and enjoyed being around people. She never hesitated to help a friend in need, never asking for anything in return.
She met her partner, Nancy, in 1995, and for the next 22 years they were inseparable until death took her.
Deborah leaves behind her wife Nancy Clausen and their dog, Pearla;
Stepchildren Tim (Laurie) Clausen and Lisa Clausen;
Sisters Charleen Stanley and Marlene Haines of Michigan, Kathy Lafever of Tennessee, brothers Chuck Wilcox and Mark Wilcox of Michigan, numerous nieces and nephews, and many, many friends who mourn the loss of her passing.
No service is being planned at this time as per Deborah’s wishes.
Anyone wishing to make donations can honor her by giving to an animal rescue of their choice.
