David Sherman Sr.

David Sherman Sr. was born March 20, 1947 in Shreveport, LA to Gussie L. Sherman And Felix Jarro. He attended grade school and high school in Shreveport. After leaving Union Ave. High he joined the Job Corps and left for Junction City, Colorado, where he lived for two years until he graduated in 1967. Soon after returning from Colorado, he met and married Rosemary McKinney in 1968. In 1970 David and Mary moved to Portland, OR for better opportunities and to be closer to family. He soon found employment with Standard Oil Of California in 1971 where he worked until he retired in 1993. He was the proud father of David Sherman Jr. and Renee Sherman of Portland, OR. After many years of marriage he and Rosemary separated and divorced in the late 90's. In 2000 He met and fell in love with Della Booth, and they were friends and life partners until the day he died. He is survived by his sisters Helen Smith, Leona Jarro, Dorothy Askew and Lena Howard; brothers Ben Sherman and Bennie Lewis; son David Sherman Jr.; daughter Renee Sherman; life partner Della Booth, ex-wife Rosemary Sherman; children he was instrumental in the upbringing of, Keosha, Janae, Latasha, and Elton Sherman, Harold, Richard, Demetria, and Elton Booth; and a host of nieces, nephews and grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
