He was a loving father, husband and grandfather. David loved life. For much of his life he was a runner, a bicycler, a kayaker, a skier and a hiker. He climbed Mt. Hood three times. He also got his Pilot’s license and owned his own airplane for a while. He always had a dog.
He was in the Peace Corps, in Venezuela, for two years following college. He became fluent in Spanish and traveled to many Latin American countries.
He worked in California, before moving to Oregon as a rehab counselor and in a school district. He retired as a counselor at Clackamas Community College after 25 years. During that time, he helped many people. He and his wife, Kathy, endowed a David and Kathy Campbell scholarship to assist undocumented students obtain an education.
He believed in helping others his entire life. He was a member of Plan International USA for 44 years. He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church and an active member in the Men’s Group there. He leaves a big hole in the lives of many.
He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Neuville Campbell. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his daughter, Christy Campbell Clement (Adam Clement); his son, Roy Scheer (Rebekah Orr); grandsons, Porter Scott Wheeler and Miles Campbell Wheeler; brother John Campbell (Linda) of Cohasset, MA and sister, Coralee Wolfe (Dennis) of Charlotte, North Carolina.
