Cora Rosetta Marks was born in Odessa, Washington to parents David and Dina (Schiewe) Haag on July 3, 1916. In the early 1920's, her family relocated to the Portland, area. Her father passed away in 1928, so much of Cora's young life was in a single-parent household.
Cora attended Commerce High School. She worked as an elevator operator at Emanuel Hospital until around the time that she was married. She exchanged wedding vows with Seth A. Marks on September 12, 1942.
Cora was a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother. She was also a very involved and devoted member of her church. She first belonged to Immanuel Baptist and later to Trinity Bible Church. Cora loved taking part in the many church activities and events over the years. She will also be remembered for baking the "Best Apple Pies in the World".
An important highlight in Cora's life is the travel that she did with her husband Seth. Together with the Oregon Auto Parts Wholesalers Association, Cora and Seth explored the world. The visited China, Africa, all over Europe, Mexico, just to begin the long list of places they experienced together.
Cora is predeceased by her husband Seth; son Alvin Marks; and grandsons Bruce Leppert and Mark Schuster.
Cora was the last survivor of her siblings and her husband's siblings as well.
Survivors include her children, daughter Lois Bennett of Beaverton, Oregon, son David Marks of Terrebonne, Oregon, daughter Donna Kreutz of Mexico, and daughter Dolores Kastine of Portland, Oregon; 11 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at 11 AM in Skyline Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Portland, Oregon.
Cora will be privately laid to rest in Skyline Memorial Gardens
