A Memorial Service for Christy will be held at The Town Club - Portland (2115 Southwest Salmon St., Portland, OR 97205) on Tuesday March 11 from 2:30-4:30pm. Jacket and tie are requested for the gentleman.
Christy was born December 25, 1951 in Portland, Oregon. She attended Lake Oswego Junior High as well as Lake Oswego High School. Christy distinguished herself in high school by excellence in art and the avoidance of PE. She loved art, colors and patterns, architecture, and different cultures. Christy graduated from the University of Oregon School of Architecture with a focus on interior design and space planning. She was an active member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and maintained many lifelong friends from the sorority.
She delighted her clients with her skill and commitment to creating spaces they loved being in. She worked in San Francisco and then in Seattle. Christy finally settled in SW Portland and ran her interior design business for over 20 years from her house. Christy’s house and interiors are a reflection of her passion for color and style. Christy did my entire dental office remotely from just the blueprints, the results were fantastic. She instructed me to close my mouth and open my wallet. She could really deliver life influencing spaces that made people happy.
Christy’s dear friends will miss her beautiful handwriting and personal notes. We will miss her incredible gift wrapping and custom wrapping paper. She loved flower arrangements and table decor; she loved presentation and cuisine.
Christy had a passion for travel but always with the companionship of dear friends. They traveled in wonderful style while CHH journaled beautifully, and her photos, postcards, and gorgeous handwriting outlined her adventures in architecture, cuisine, and accommodation. Christy was an engaging member of her nip and tuck investment and travel club, and she was an active member in the Portland Garden Club also.
Cooking a beautiful meal was also a passion of Christy’s, along with the presentation. My best birthdays always involved her extraordinary cheesecake. She said it was the extra butter, but I think it was the extra love.
Christy adored her kittens and cats. They gave her unconditional love and companionship, and she reciprocated with attention and care.
Most of all, Christy was a wonderful sister to me, and a devoted daughter to our father EBH Sr. She was a loving and loyal friend to those that knew and worked with her. We will all miss her sassy sense of humor and the word “clearly” accompanied by an eye roll. We will miss things about CHH that we don’t even know yet.
Remember and carry her in your hearts, that’s what she would want.
Please feel welcome to share your condolences, warm memories, and cherished photos on this page to be seen and appreciated by Christy's friends, family, and all who knew and loved her.
