Charles Lee West was born on October 27, 1918 in Tigard, Oregon. He died, at age 95, on October 31, 2013, in Cary, North Carolina, where he lived with his daughter, Nancy. He graduated from Beaverton High School and attended Linfield College. He was a display designer and product manager for 37 years for P&C Tool Company, which was later called Ingersol Rand, in Milwaukie. He loved God's great Earth. He climbed Mt. Hood five times and hiked extensively in the Northwest and across the world. He was a volunteer guide for the Portland Japanese Gardens for 10 years and a lifetime member of Central Bible Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel McLaughlin West.
Survivors include daughters, Marjorie Luce and Nancy Reagan; sons, Richard and Kenneth, sisters Margaret Taylor and Lois Schroeder; brother, Alan West; six grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at Lincoln Memorial Park Chapel at 10:00 am on November 8, 2013, at Mount Scott in Portland, Oregon for Charles West. A graveside service will follow the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be sent to Central Bible Church or Multnomah University in Portland, Oregon.
