A private mass will be held for Carol Romano, who passed away on November 9th, 2014 in her home in NE Portland. She was born Carol Lea McCormick on July 16th, 1932. Most of her life was spent in Portland, OR as a homemaker.
She was accomplished in classical voice and piano, singing at the Paramount theater as well as live radio performances by the age of 17. As a young girl, she studied voice under Mr. Emil Ena and Mrs. Olsen, and was later chosen to accompany the 1949 Rose Festival court to sing with Queen Georgine.
While living in Prineville, OR raising her family, Carol enjoyed being in charge of the entertainment for the Chamber of Commerce. She was proud to have been able to bring one of her favorite artists, Ferrante & Teicher to town. Having received the honor of being nominated for Mrs. America by the Chamber of Commerce, she was unfortunately unable to contend at the time. She enjoyed being Assistant to the China buyer at the Downtown Meier & Frank during the late 70's.
Carol was baptized in 1985 at Ascension Catholic Church in Portland.
Most of all, Carol was the center of her beloved family and always a proud Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She is survived by her loving Husband Robert Romano, Sister Juanita Hood, Children Rodney, Ronald and Cheryl Sundholm. With 10 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren.
