Carol Lynn Koontz was born in Dickinson, North Dakota on Christmas Day 1952. Her parents Henry Kadrmas and Emma Kadrmas raised Carol as well as three other siblings, Bonita, Diane and Wane, on their farm just outside Dickinson. She graduated from Trinity Catholic High School in June 1970 and from there she worked at Black Hills Resort in South Dakota. Shortly after she returned to North Dakota attending the interstate business college in Fargo majoring in Accounting. She moved to Portland, Oregon in summer 1976 and after moving to Portland she met the love of her life, Richard Lee Koontz. They married on August 17, 1985 and a year later on November 29th 1986 their daughter Ashley Erin was born and four years later on August 24th, 1990 their son Ross Harrison was born. Throughout the 1990s she worked in accounting for the hotel chain Shilo Inns until 2002. After that she worked for Alaska Airlines following a lifelong dream of working for an airline until 2013 at last retiring. She enjoyed cooking, art, travel, homemaking and spending time with her family. She had a fabulous independent spirit and will always be remembered for her warmth and generosity.
