Jeanne was born February 4, 1935 in Portland, Oregon, to Gunnar and Louise Johnson. She was raised in Gresham, Oregon next door to her aunt and grandparents. She had an older brother, Harold, and a younger sister, Barbara. Jeanne graduated from Gresham High School, where she met Donald W. Johnson. They were married on December 31, 1952. No name change was needed for Jeanne!
Don and Jeanne bought their home in Hillsboro in 1955, and Jeanne lived there for 65 years. Mark was born in 1958, Sue in 1959, and K'Lyn in 1962. While Don always had a garden, Jeanne canned anything and everything she could, including water one year just because she had empty jars. That came in as a blessing during the Columbus Day storm.
In the 1960's, she was active in the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority in Hillsboro, where she met many life long friends. When the kids were all in grade school, she was a "room mother" for all 3 classrooms. There are many memories of cookies baked and decorated every holiday for each classroom. Jeanne became more involved by volunteering in the classrooms and eventually was employed full time as an instructional aide at East Junior High School. She worked there for 27 years until she retired.
Don and Jeanne will be remembered for entertaining family and friends at the cabin in Rhododendron. Jeanne was an avid sports enthusiast. She loved her OSU Beavers and the Trail Blazers. While in Seattle for Don's cancer treatment, they attended a Mariner's game and then became Mariner's fans. Jeanne enjoyed walking with her teacher friends and participated in many walking events, including walking the Portland Marathon in 1988. She was supportive and attended many activities her grandchildren participated in. Jeanne and Don enjoyed road trips with Pat and Darold Johnson, including going to various casinos, which Jeanne really enjoyed.
Jeanne is preceded in death by her husband, Don, and her brother, Harold. She is survived by her 3 children, 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Barbara.
Jeanne was happiest when she could help others. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt and will be missed dearly.
