Carlton Daniel Warren

Carlton Daniel “Dan” Paulmier Warren, 83, died at Farmington Square in Beaverton, Oregon on May 23rd, 2017, following a long struggle with dementia and Alzheimer’s. He is survived by his wife, Ruby (Hutchison) Warren, daughter Danette (Warren) Schuh and son-in-law, Todd Schuh of Sugar Land, Texas; daughter Cynthia Warren of Akron, Ohio; sister-in-law Georgina Warren, and niece Cathy. Born in Vancouver, Washington, the youngest son of Wilfred Henry Warren and Catherine (Paulmier) Warren, he spent most of his life in Portland. He and his older brother, Wilfred “Bill” H. Warren, Jr., (1930-1984) began learning the value of hard work at an early age, getting paper routes while they were in grade school. A car enthusiast, Dan worked as an auto mechanic while attending Benson Polytechnic High School in Portland. After graduating, he spent two years in the Army. He returned to Portland and worked as a clerk at the downtown branch of the US Post Office to put himself through college and law school. He graduated from Northwest College of Law (Lewis and Clark), Class of 1962. His interest in sports cars grew as he began racing, and raced the first Rose Cup Race at Delta Park. He met his wife Ruby, in 1958, in the Cascade Sports Car Club where they were both members. They were married in 1963. Soon after, he started his own law firm, Solomon & Warren. The name later changed to Warren Allen LLP. He retired from the firm in 2004, giving him more time for his several hobbies. Dan enjoyed reading, golfing, and gun collecting. He was an active supporter of the NRA and an enthusiastic hunter of wild game, including moose, elk and wild boar. He especially enjoyed competing in Cowboy Shooting Club events. Dan attended flight classes and earned his pilot's license at Beaverton Airport, and later became a member of the Tektronix Air Club. Always active in the community, he served as President of the Board of the Cedar Mill Community Library, Treasurer of the International Conference of Northwest Sports Car Clubs, held membership in the Austin-Healey Club, and was a founding member of the Morgan Owners Group. A service celebrating his life will be held at Finley-Sunset Hills Mortuary on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at 2:00 pm.
