Carl Robert “Bob” Blank Jr. was born November 6, 1926 in Ipswich, South Dakota to Carl and Katherine Blank. He was raised in South Dakota with four siblings, one brother, Jerome, and three sisters, Angela, Delores, and Mary. Bob graduated from Ipswich High School in 1944.
Following high school, Bob enlisted in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged October 8, 1947 at the rank of Corporal.
On February 13, 1947, Bob exchanged wedding vows with Virginia Jillson. The couple had three children, Sharon, Helen, and Bruce. They were also blessed with six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Bob and Virginia moved the family to Portland in 1960, where they have lived since.
Bob worked for Interstate Tractor and Equipment and retired as a salesman from Oregon Tractor.
During his free time, Bob enjoyed playing pool and Thursday Night Poker.
Bob was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church for over twelve years. He was also a member of the Gateway Elks.
Bob passed away September 13, 2010 in Portland. A memorial mass will be at 11AM, Tuesday, September 21, 2010 in St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church of Portland. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Virginia, children, Sharon Drake of Salem, Helen Fleskes of Portland, and Bruce Blank of Tigard; sister, Delores Fountain of Norato, CA; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerome, and sisters, Angela and Mary. Bob will be remembered most for his amazing sense of humor.
