Betty King was born in Grand Ronde, Oregon on February 28, 1928 and was the youngest of seven children. She attended Milwaukie High School and graduated in 1946. She married William King on November 5, 1949 in Portland, Oregon. Betty had three children: daughter Debie in 1951, daughter Cindy in 1962, and son Greg in 1967. Betty worked as a bookkeeper until 1956 when she decided to stay home to handle the growing responsibilities of family and maintaining a new home. She kept very busy helping her children with Camp Fire and Cub Scouts, and she volunteered to organize yearly school fundraising events. Betty was very involved in planning the Milwaukie High School class reunions, and met monthly with many of the women she graduated with. She was very proud of her two grandsons, Hunter and Layton. She was exceptionally creative and found great joy in making each holiday and birthday extra special. Betty was an excellent cook, seamstress, and florist. She was truly a “Martha Stewart” – everything had to be just so. She loved animals, especially cats. Betty was unfailingly generous with her time, talent, and energy. She showed great kindness to everyone she met. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her family and friends will miss her greatly.
