Born the daughter of Carl and Anna Thiel in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska, Betty moved to Portland as a teenager and attended Jefferson High. She was preceded in death by Bill, her husband of 59 years.
Betty loved cooking, music and dancing.....especially the Polka. During their last 25 years together, she and Bill traveled the West to participate in numerous dance festivals. She loved dancing the night away at any Oktoberfest within driving distance. Beyond dancing, Betty lived for her five children, Bill Herzog, Barbara Mabe, Jim Herzog, Jeanne Marlow, Janelle Reiner and 13 grandchildren. She loved and cherished each of them as much as they loved her. She is survived by sisters Marlene Jasper and Elaine Ledbetter and preceded in death by sisters Dorothy Dardano and Shirley Adolphson.
