Betty met her future husband, Walter Ging Gee, in 1964 while he was visiting family and friends in Hong Kong. It did not take long for Betty and Walter to realize; the strong bond they had together; and they were married in Hong Kong on February 22nd, 1965. Their first child, Stuart Gee, was born 2 ½ years later on November 13th, 1967, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, Oregon.
Betty had a strong bond with her parents and siblings and wanted them to be closer to her new family and helped move her entire family over to the United States. Her Mom and Dad along with sisters Wai Ching, Jeanette, Jean, and Margaret & Brother Todd were all moved to the United States by the end of 1971.
In 1971, their second child, Lynall Gee was born on May 7th. A couple of years later, on December 17th, 1973, Terry Gee, their third son was born. Betty had a deep devotion to family. She wanted to remain at home to be able to nurture and raise her three boys, teaching them right from wrong.
Betty was a great cook who loved hosting large family dinners. There are fond memories of her cooking meals in a very small kitchen for large gatherings of family of over twenty people during the Holidays. The food was so delicious, and there was always plenty left over.
As her sons grew older, Betty wanted to work outside the home as well and began working as a waitress in various Chinese restaurants throughout Portland.
Betty was a hard and dedicated worker who would work multiple shifts every day during most of her career as a waitress. Betty made many friends during her working career. She also became a favorite of her regular customers, who knew her by name.
Betty loved to travel with family and friends. Some of the wonderful places that she has visited included The Great Wall of China, a cruise to Mexico, Niagara Falls, Grand Canyon and New York City. There were also many road trips as a family to visit family and friends within the United States and Canada.
Betty is survived by; her three sons (Stuart, Lynall and Terry) and her three granddaughters (Kathryn, Amanda, and Karalyn). Betty had an absolute love for her family.
Betty, was a Mom, daughter, sister and friend has impacted all our lives in a loving and positive way.
We will all miss Betty.
We will all remember the moments in our lives we shared with Betty and how she has impacted our lives in the most positive way.
