We have lost to the heavens a dear, dear friend. A beloved Catholic, she accepts that her tie has come and it is the will of God to take her in his compassionate and caressing arms. For 17 years, Barbara put up the most valiant fight against the sarcoma that ravaged most parts of her body. But even through all the pain and suffering she maintained her positive attitude, engaging and endearing personality and dignified caring way for others. She was an amazing, loving, and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She also leaves fond, lasting memories for her German and American brothers and sisters. She adds her well wishes to all her multitude of friends over the years and a thank you and "air hugs" for your kindness and friendship over the past decades. Her mantra was to live every day to it's fullest. And she did!!
An award winning member of the Oregon Society of Artists and a renowned plein air artist, Barbara continued being a docent and patron at the Portland Art Museum and the Pittock Mansion. She especially enjoyed giving tours to children. As many of you know, besides art, she loved to travel and would not miss an opportunity to visit great sights, both locally and abroad.
