Barbara Jean Doerr

Barbara Jean Doerr, 70, of Gresham OR, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Mt. Hood Medical Center. At her request, no services were held. She was cremated and her remains are interred at Willamette National Cemetery in Gresham, OR. She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Doerr. They are interred together in their final resting place.

Barbara Jean (Sheely) Doerr was born June 10, 1941, in Fairmont, Minn., the daughter of Floyd and Viola (Nawrocki) Sheely. As a young girl, she graduated from Academy of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Mankato, MN. She served in the United States Air Force as an Airman 3rd Class and was stationed in San Francisco where she met and fell in love with her future husband, Terry Doerr. Upon leaving the service, she returned to Fairmont, MN, where she received a certificate in cosmetology from the DeLyles Academy while she awaited the arrival of her fiancé.

On May 21,1966, Barbara was united in marriage to Terry Doerr at the Holy Family Catholic Church in East Chain, MN. Together the couple was blessed to celebrate 40 years of marriage before Terry passed away on July 9, 2006.

During their marriage Barbara was able to complete her education and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Mt. Hood Community College. She worked as a Registered Nurse and specialized in mental health and geriatric care.

Barbara made a lifelong commitment to community service. Most recently, she was both a member and a volunteer at the Gresham Senior Center in Gresham, OR. She also volunteered for many years at Mt. Hood Medical Center in Gresham, OR. In her spare time, she enjoyed her dogs, working in her garden, collecting Kewpie dolls, quilting, knitting, going to lunches and the movies with her friends but mostly being a grandmother.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Mrs. Rebecca Jean (and Henry) Fernaine of Brooklyn, NY and Mr. Christopher (and Liubov) Doerr of Gresham, OR; her granddaughters: Vera Sofia Doerr of Gresham, OR, and Penelope Jean Fernaine of Brooklyn, NY; her brothers and sisters: Mrs. Helen Rolling of Armstrong, IA, Mrs. Marlene (and Howard) Anderson of Truman, MN, Mrs. Shirley (and Tim) Malherek of Ironton, MN, Mr. Richard Sheely of Mankato, MN, Mr. Edward Sheely of Mankato, MN and Mr. Paul (and Diane) Sheely of Fairmont, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

As written by one of her dear friends, "She never thought of herself, never spent money on herself, loved her family and doted on her granddaughter. Barbara was fun, forgiving, faithful to her friends and the world's greatest listener. I will miss her."
