Anne Catherine Mahler passed peacefully from this life on November 2, 2020 from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. She was 58 years old. Born in San Diego to Warren and Eleanor Mahler, Anne was the last of 5 children. She is pre-deceased by her parents, and survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Joan and John (Portland), and brothers Bill (Las Vegas), Ray (San Diego) and Peter (Missoula).
Anne had more than her fair share of hard knocks in life, but — to borrow a phrase — “neverthess, she persisted.” She was blessed with a lively spirit, strong will, and loving nature. At any time of day, Anne would walk into a room and proclaim “Good Morning!
Like most of us, Anne cherished the comforts of being at home. Her last seven years were spent in Portland, Oregon, where she found a loving and nurturing home with her housemates and support staff at the Up and Out, Inc. Family House, and enjoyed the company of friends at the Mount Hood Adult Day Center. We are profoundly grateful for the tender care provided by the staffs of Up and Out and Providence Hospice, which allowed Anne to live out her final days at home. Anne will be buried in San Diego alongside her parents.
Goodbye to our beloved sister and friend. The heavens are most certainly enjoying a very Good Morning.
In lieu of flowers, we invite memorial donations to Up and Out, Inc., 521 SW 11th Avenue, Suite 304, Portland OR 97205.
