She was a longtime follower of Jesus and a faithful attender of Cedar Mill Bible Church.
She married Robert A Herren Sr on October 11,1941. They had four children. She is survived by her children Robert Herren Jr., Warren Herren, David Herren and Christine Steinkamp. She loved her 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Ally was born in Endicott , Washington on December 9, 1918 to Alex and Mary Hergert. Ally had 3 siblings. Al Hergert, Helen Wright (Hergert) and Richard Hergert. The family moved when Ally was around 2 years old to Portland, Oregon in the Albina district where many other immigrant Volga Germans lived. She graduated from Commerce (Cleveland) High School. She worked early on at Montgomery Wards store and then as a nurse's aid for an Emanuel Hospital clinic until she retired.
Ally and Bob loved spending their retirement years roller skating, traveling, spending time with their grandchildren, and doing activities with the Ambassador's Group at Cedar Mill Bible Church. Ally finally gave up roller skating when she was 90 years old.
When she was 100, she moved from her Cedar Mill apartment to Markham House Retirement Home in Portland due to growing health limitations. She very much enjoyed playing Bingo there.
Ally spent much of her life teaching youth and children about Jesus at the churches she attended. She taught at all the churches she attended. She volunteered in many capacities at her church. She also volunteered at the 2nd Edition store connected with the Cedar Mill Library. She loved children. She also loved flowers and kept many plants in all the places she lived.
