Alma Ruth Harris was born to Eddie and Letha V. Banks in Celina Texas, on August 24, 1934. She was the youngest of 5 siblings. Alma attended and completed high school at Doty High in McKinney, Texas. She married her beloved husband Louis G Harris on November 29th 1952. The family moved to Oregon in 1953. Alma was a special education bus driver for Laid Law until her retirement in the mid 80’s.
Alma enjoyed cooking, lively conversation, entertaining friends and family, music and dancing. Alma’s habanero BBQ ribs are not to be forgotten.
If anyone had the privilege of visiting them at their home, you would hear Louis tell the same stories over and over again which would frustrate Alma to no end. Alma’s famous line was “LOUIS” nobody wants to hear that story over and over again!!
Most importantly, Alma was a dedicated and baptized servant of Jehovah since 1958. She also served as regular and auxiliary pioneer for many years. She died a faithful servant of Jehovah. Alma was always present at the house of Jehovah.
Alma always had a soft spot for children. She and Louis had 3.
Alma was preceded in death by her later husband Louis G Harris and survived by her daughters LaRenda King and Felecia A. Harris of Portland OR., and son Louis G. Harris Jr. of Portland, OR., grandchildren Dayla Ruth King and Jaime Lynn King, and great grandchildren Robert Coleman III and Niasia Coleman, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
