Allen “Al” Meredith Gabel, 75, of Portland, passed away December 10, 2018. He was a native Oregonian, born July 3, 1943 in Roseburg, Oregon. His family moved to the Portland area in 1950. He was a graduate of Madison High School. He graduated from the University of Oregon and made his career as a Trust Officer with US Bank until his retirement. Al was an avid supporter of the U of O as well as the Oregon Zoo, where he served as a past board member. In his retirement, Al could always be found planning for or enjoying many cruises to various ports of call. He is survived by son Tim Rice of Texas, brothers Wayne (Sarah) of Damascus, OR and Brad (Janice) of Edgewood, NM, three nephews and one great nephew. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, January 4, 2019 at 1 PM at Finley Sunset Hills Mortuary, 6801 SW Sunset Highway, Portland. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Oregon Zoo in Al’s memory.
