Auburn, ME – William A. Daniels, 92, of South Paris died on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Auburn Hospice House. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth R. (Carroll) Daniels who died on April 26, 2000.
Bill was born in Paris Hill, ME on July 26, 1921 a son of the late Alfred M. & Ethel (Twitchell) Daniels. He grew up in Paris Hill and graduated from Paris High School. He went on to remain a Paris area resident all of his life.
He served his country in the US Army during World War II from 1942-1946, earning the rank of Corporal. Prior to leaving for active duty, Bill married Elizabeth on September 17, 1942.
Bill worked as a carpenter for many years before retiring in the early 1980’s. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially at Richardson Lake in Andover, ME. He was a devoted family man, also putting his family first and doing whatever he could do to provide and support them. He was especially smitten with his grandchildren, even until days before his death, his face would light up for them.
He is survived by his two children, Sally E. Latham of Norway and David A. Daniels and his wife Bessie of Harrison. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, two sisters Mary Boynton of Paris Hill, ME and Phyllis Lasalle of Bolster Mills, ME as well as several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Douglas A. Daniels, who died in 1966 and Marianne D. Mecervier, who died in 2001 and was the brother of the late Mark Daniels. He was also predeceased by a grandson and a great granddaughter.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Riverside Annex Cemetery, South Paris, ME.
