Viola T. Stratchko, age 96 of Portland, died Saturday April 15, 2017 at the Cedars following a brief illness.
She was born in Portland the daughter of Sabatino and Michelina D’ Andrea Panetti. She attended local schools graduating from Deering High School class of 1940. She also graduated from Northeast Business College.
Viola was employed at CNA Insurance, and at The Hartford Insurance Company as a claims adjuster for 25 years until her retirement.
She was a longtime communicant at St. Pius X Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister for several years, and was in charge of taking collections. She was a very active parishioner.
She was a member of the National Association of Government Retired Employees, former member of Insurance Women of Southern Maine, and member of the Elks Emblem Club.
She is predeceased by her husband, George S. Stratchko in 1994.
She leaves her son George D. and his wife Cheryl Stratchko of Saco, a sister, Margaret Darling of Clearwater, FL., 2 Grandchildren and 2 Great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Thursday April 20, 2017 from 4 to 7PM at the Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday April 21, 2017 at 1PM at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Ocean Ave, Portland. Interment will follow in the family lot at New Calvary Cemetery, So.
