I am shocked, stumbling upon on this obituary seven months after Tab’s death as I was thinking (with my fingers on the keyboard) about people I grew up with who ended up in Maine. I met Tab at Cranford’s (public) clay tennis courts in the summer of 1968.  (His warm and witty older brother Michael (Mike) worked at the courts.) I hung out with Tab there (and at his house, a short way up Springfield Avenue) until we went our separate ways and off to college. (His lovely mother did have the best snacks; his father was charming also, and the first person I ever met who subscribed to the Economist.) When we were old enough, Tab and I worked together at those courts, taking reservations, rolling and sweeping the clay, putting down lime, and sweeping the lines. We practiced with the varsity tennis team in 9th grade and played on the team together for the next three years. (Tab was first singles; I was a distant third.) Tab was also a high school basketball star, though I was tiny to his tall so alone together we mostly just “shot” and played 21 and Horse. In addition to being a gifted athlete, he was smart, funny, cheerful, gregarious, hardworking, responsible, fair, and kind. Everyone young and old in Cranford loved him, and I am not the least bit surprised to read that everyone young and old loved him at college and forever after. My condolences to his entire family, all his friends, and his former colleagues.  I am certain his memory will be a blessing. 

My condolences to Tab's family.  I have fond memories of playing football and basketball at the Tab's house on Springfield Ave in Cranford as a boy.  I also remember him dominating the clay courts a few blocks away.

Tab and I became friends on our daily walks   We would talk and solve all  life’s issues, talk about our families and be grateful to be outside.   Sometimes you hear it said that someone is “one of the good ones”. That was true in spades. Kindness, a sense of humor, humility, deep love for his wife and so proud of his children. 

I am better for having known him.  

My heart hurts for his family.

Stunned.  My elementary school buddy.  We played hoops in his driveway almost every day. His mom had the best refreshments. He was the tallest guy by far and nearly impossible to beat. And what a tennis star in high school. On a recent drive to visit a friend in Boothbay area, I took a shot. I recalled Tabby lived in Portland so I dialed 411 as we passed Boston and got the phone number for a Stanley Currie.  I dialed it....and left a message.  "Hi.  This may be the strangest message you’ve ever received.   I’m looking for Tabbie Currie.....from Cranford, NJ.  I’m an elementary school friend”.....   We drove on and 45 minutes later the phone rang.  It was my buddy laughing at the spontaneous call that brought us together after 48 years.  Tab told us where to meet....and there we connected again...with our wives....told stories and laughed some more.  How lucky I was to reconnect.  Great guy.  So sad.  Prayers to his family.  

I am so saddened to hear of Tab's passing.  Our paths crossed during my many years at Anthem and he was such a well respected colleague.  I can still visualize him walking into a conference room, the company fitness center or the cafeteria with his tall stature and affable way.  My sincere condolences to his family and all his many friends. 

I’m so sad to learn of Tab’s passing .  He was a wonderful man.  I always enjoyed running into him after he left Healthsource Maine and was thrilled to reconnect with him while working at Anthem.  He was a thoughtful leader, a great listener, and had the most infectious smile.

I will cherish the laughs we shared and the gift of his friendship.  My life is certainly better for having known him.

I was fortunate to meet Tab when he started working at Healthsource/Cigna.  He was such a wonderful person, always smiling. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family.

How profoundly sad. Tab was a valued and respected me,ber of my management team at Healthsource Maine. 

One time a team had to travel to Alabama for training. It had been a very long day of traveling and by the time we got to our rental cars we were wiped out. I jumped in mine and took off until I saw Tab doing a visual check of his car, checked tires and adjusted the mirrors - classic Tab. 

A few years later I was working at a different company and my good friend and I were talking about her days at Anthem - turns out she was the one who stole him from me! 

As a fellow tall person, it was great to have someone I could look in the eye. 

Go rest high on that mountain. 

I am very sorry to hear of Tab's passing. We met the first day of college, as hall mates, then roommates for two years.  In addition to countless campus activities, we enjoyed memorable road trips to Montreal, Buffalo, and three road trips to Florida! He was very well liked at college, with a large circle of friends. A serious student, but a lot of fun too! One of the nicest guys I have ever known. I always appreciated Tab keeping in touch with me over the years with updates and photos of his family, right up to a texted photo on October 2nd.  

My deepest sympathy to his family. I will miss Tab very much. 

I am so sorry to hear this news about Tab.  He was a fitness center friend, a regular, familiar smiling face.  Such a kind person.  We shared our various challenges with our health.    What a surprise, he is gone way too soon.  

I am so saddened to hear of Tab's passing.  I worked with Tab in our Maine office and he was my manager for a very brief time. He was one of the kindest and most genuine people that I have known and I am blessed to have known him.    My thoughts and prayers are with his family.  

I am so very sorry to hear of Tab’s passing. He was a light for me and a good friend. He guided me through Healthcare Reform with kind hands, was a terrific listener, a great friend and a greater man! I sincerely hope that you have many memories that will keep you warm in the cold of his absence, and that you can feel him there with you! Pls find some comfort in knowing how respected and loved he was in his professional life.

I have many fond memories of Tab. 
We worked together for many years and he was my cubicle buddy across from me. 
He was kind, funny and always calm in the storms we dealt with everyday.

Tab (on right) was the best Business Project Mgr partner I ever worked with.  We all loved Tab.  His intelligence and sense of humor made work fun.  Condolences to the Currie friends and family.  We will all miss Tab!
