Came across this picture of a younger Uncle Severe and his mom taken around 1950. I have fond childhood memories spending time with Eileen and Debbie in International Falls, MN. Uncle Sever was a character.  

I first met Paul in the late 1990's at the Brett home on Munjoy Hill.  The Bretts always gave a family party for my Mum, Gladys Anna Pratt & me whenever we visited from Florida.  It gave us a chance to meet & greet all the Bretts!  Paul was there with his wife, Shirley brett Terenne. He had a very salty and sometimes contrary, outspoken opinion to others in the family!  I immediately took a great liking to him!  Each year I looked forward to seeing him at the family gatherings, even after his wife had passed.  The last year that Mum & I visited Portland, the home on Munjoy Hill had been sold & many of the Bretts had moved or passed. Before continuing on our trip to New Brunswick, Canada, I decided to mail a package home.  As we were leaving I spotted Paul  entering the PO. We spent a lovely time talking for an hour. Last time I saw him! Phoned often. Loved him!

So sorry to hear of Pauls passing.  I worked with him in several of his capacities during the 70's, 80's and early 90's. Always the greatest respect for his work -always 110%, and then some.

Sorry to learn of Paul's death. He was a friendly  Portland courthouse regular for decades and always had a kind word when we met. Condolences to his family.

I was sorry to hear of Paul’s passing- he was a good and decent man, always faithful to his work duties, fair and respectful to those he encountered while “ doing a bail” and hardworking.    Rest now now Paul- you earned it.    Anne Jordan 

My condolences to all of Paul’s remaining family. I have fond memories of sharing stories with him during his time as a county court officer in Portland’s old district court building. He will be missed.

My greatest sympathy to all of Paul's children and family. It has always been my honor to serve a man who served our country and gave us all our freedoms.  I genuinely enjoyed going to work for a man I respected. I remember first getting to know Paul, we'd talk about our Native American lineage and started the care giver bond that way. He was easy to care for and ready with a joke or endearing sarcasm. All the stories shared about working at the youth center, as sheriff or a bail bondsman. Or simply stories of the way life used to be. This past summer Paul took his last coastal ride with his Daughter (and live in care giver of the last almost 10 years I have know them) and myself. It was a well earned ride that almost did not happened. It was a beautiful sunny day and to see him a curious as a child with wonder and memories as we drove for hours. It was one of my best days.....I had never seen our coast like this and thanks to Paul I will feel confident to share that ride with my son when he visits home. So Paul's coastal ride will go on. I see you later my friend, we just arrive at different times, but I have so many new comers there to greet you already........your friend and caregiver
