Portland- Sara G Littlefield, age 79, died August 18, 2022, at home in Portland from long illness with her daughter by her side. She was born June 28, 1943, to Mae and Andrew Glassford of Portland, ME.She attended Portland schools and graduated from Portland High School. She also attended Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, MA.
As a teenager, she started work at Day’s Jewelry Store until she went to work at Maine Bonding & Casualty as a keypuncher. On Dec 30, 1967, she married Dr. Alvin F. Littlefield, DMD. After they married, she became the office manager of Alvin’s dental practice until his retirement in 1992.
Sara was an amazing lady that cared deeply about her family. As a survivor of breast and mouth cancer, she never complained about pain, or anything for that matter.
She enjoyed her time spent at her camp on Pequawket Lake in Limington, ME as well as travelling with her family. Her hobbies included knitting and crocheting. When they were younger, she enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and loved going to their games and dances.
Sara is predeceased by her parents, her husband, twin sister Betty DuBois and brother Edgar Glassford.
Sara is survived by her daughter and her husband Deborah (Littlefield) and Mark Glanville. She is also survived by her sister Emily Legare, as well as her grandchildren Kristina (Gabby) and Zachary Glanville (Marissa) and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Maine Health Care at Home and Hospice of Southern Maine for their assistance, so Sara was able to be comfortable at home in her final days.
At the request of Sara there’ll be no public services. Interment will take place at Forest City Cemetery.
