Bob was born on April 17, 1932 in Augusta, GA the son of Clyde and Alice Davis. He graduated from Portland High School in 1950 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving his country from ‘51 to ’54. He returned to Portland to attend then Portland Junior College. In 1957, Bob joined the Portland Fire Dept. retiring after 21 years of service as Captain.
Although he worked a number of jobs after retiring, Bob was best known for his passion of Ballroom Dancing, becoming an “icon” to many at Maplewood Dance; a friend to all.
He is survived by his wife, Marian L. (Viles) Davis of 54 years; three daughters, Karen Chaleki, Edith “Edie” Lewis, Jerilyn “Jeri” Datres; two sons, John Davis and Robert “Mark” Davis; grandchildren, Estela, Amanda, Avary, Blake, Michele, Ben, Matt and Jordan; and many other loving relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation Thursday, September 1, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St.
Graveside Services will be private.
