Raymond was born in Rangeley, Maine in 1948, the son of Adrian and Simone Morin. His family moved to Stratton a few years later. He attended Stratton Elementary School and then Stratton High School, from which he graduated in 1967. After graduation Raymond was drafted by the U.S Army. During his time in the Army Raymond served 14 months in Vietnam.
Raymond had several careers. Initially, for many years after returning home from the Army he worked as a logger. After that, Raymond spent several decades as a truck driver, a large portion of that time as a truck driver for International Paper. After retiring, Raymond still kept working part-time for nearly another decade, primarily as an employee for the U.S. Post Office.
Raymond was a joyous soul. He loved to travel and to be on the open road. He loved blues and rock ‘n roll. He loved good food. He loved all food. He loved the remote control for the television. Most of all, he loved his family in a way that no one can hope to match.
Raymond leaves behind his son Joe, his daughter Anne-Marie and her husband Kevin Pelkey and their son Caleb Pelkey, his brother Gilbert and his wife Denise and their four children: Fabian, Ailene, Diane and Maria along with their spouses and children, and his brother Mark. He also leaves behind countless other family members and friends.
A service celebrating Raymond’s life will be held on Saturday, September 16th, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Stratton. Raymond will be buried at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery in Augusta at a date to be determined later.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that donations be made to Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery Association.
