Portland- Patricia E. Small, 77, of Cumberland, died on January 16, 2014 after a long illness. She was born on May 5, 1936 in Lewiston, a daughter of Stephen Thomas and Shirley June (Sibley) Greenlaw. She attended Auburn and Portland schools. She was the oldest of 9 children and a mother to many in her life. She married Gene Villacci, Sr. in 1953 and had 3 sons. She had a 4th son during a later marriage to Jake Small. She enjoyed spending her time supporting her children and grandchildren’s activities. She could be found proudly sitting in the stands of a soccer game, school play or at Beech Ridge Speedway applauding her son or grandchild’s activity. For many years she enjoyed creating a Thanksgiving feast at camp despite no running water or electricity. Patricia’s love was her family as expressed by her love of the holidays and being together. The Christmas season was her favorite time of year and she loved to see to see the joy on people’s faces when gifts were opened. While raising her family, she created time to be social, knit and make braided rugs with friends.
Patricia was pre-deceased by her parents.
She is survived by her siblings, Beverly Aspiras, Thomas Greenlaw, Gloria Sawyer, Bert Greenlaw, Wayne Greenlaw, Diane Howe and Rosemary Lerman; her sons, Gene Villacci, Jr. and Helena , Robert Villacci and Debbie Heatley, Michael Villacci and Holly, Jake Small and Christine; her grandchildren, Sierra and Mason Villacci, Tyler and Bailey Small and Heather, Ryan and Evan Villacci.
The family would like to acknowledge Christine Small for her support and guidance for Patricia’s medical care in the later stages of her illness.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation from 12-3 pm on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Jones Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland, where a funeral will follow at 3 pm. Interment will be at Blanchard Cemetery in the spring.
