Norma Bartley Anderson was born on April 15, 1933, to Martin S. and Irene M. Bartley in Washburn, Maine. She moved with her family to Cumberland when she was a child and lived there until she married the love of her life, Paul D. Anderson in June 1954 at West End Gospel Tabernacle. She lived in Portland and Gray most of her adult life but spent several years in Scarborough when Paul worked at Hay and Peabody Funeral Home.
Norma accepted Christ at an early age and served in many ministries in the churches she attended throughout the years. Norma attended the public schools in Cumberland and graduated from Greeley High School in 1951. After high school, Norma worked at Union Mutual (UNUM). She was employed as a bookkeeper by P. Rueben and Company, Northeast Composition, and EMP Sales. In addition to working outside of the home, she had the opportunity to be a homemaker for many years and raise her son and daughter. Norma enjoyed studying the Bible and praying and had many hobbies and pastimes which included: cooking, reading, completing jigsaw puzzles and word searches, watching sports on TV, singing and listening to music, and spending time with her family.
Norma Anderson went to live with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, August 16, 2022. She was preceded in death by her father, Martin S. Bartley; mother, Irene M. Barley; and her husband, Paul D. Anderson.
She is survived by her son, Bob Anderson (Kandi) of Bakersfield, CA; daughter, Polly Nevers (Ron) of Gray, ME; sister, Muriel Nevers of Portland, ME; sister-in-law, Melba Anderson of St. Stephen, Canada; grandchildren Jonathan Nevers (Christin); Mollie Bennett (Eric); Josiah Nevers; Aaron Nevers; Amy Anderson all of Gray, ME; Bethany Emma (Daniel) of Windham, ME; and Kelly Anderson of Bakersfield, CA; four nephews; three nieces; fourteen great grandchildren; other relatives; and dear church family and friends.
Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 pm on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland. A funeral service will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Covenant Family Fellowship Church, 24 Falmouth Rd. Windham. Burial will be on Monday at Blackpoint Cemetery in Scarborough.
