Michelle N. Greenier, 66, passed away peacefully with family at her side on June 13, 2017 at South Portland Nursing Home following an extended illness. She was born to Roger and Jeannette (Couturier) Breton on July 31, 1950 in Lewiston. Michelle grew up in the Pine Point area of Scarborough along with her four sisters. She attended Scarborough schools where she enjoyed playing field hockey and basketball, and graduated from Scarborough High School in 1968.
Michelle married the love of her life, Gary Greenier, on September 22, 1972. They shared a true love story, and went on to have three daughters and raise their family in Cape Elizabeth. Michelle was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. Family was always her first priority, and she was happiest when all of her kids and grandkids were over for a meal or a family celebration. She enjoyed cooking, going for long walks, spending time with friends and family, and she loved to read and listen to music. Michelle had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She especially enjoyed traveling with her husband. Her favorite destination was the annual trip she and Gary took to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
Michelle was predeceased by her husband, Gary Greenier; her father, Roger Breton; and a sister, Janice Breton.
She is survived by her mother, Jeannette Breton; her sisters, Charlene Croteau and her husband Joseph; Joline Phillips and her husband Frederick; Rachelle Knight and her husband Clifford; and Lynette Breton and her spouse Anne-Marie D'Amico; her daughters, Kris Greenier; Danielle Vigus and her children Aidan and Nathan; and Jenyse Rickman and her husband Scott and their children Elijah, James and Piper; as well as several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly; and close friends who were family to her.
Michelle's family wishes to thank the staff at South Portland Nursing Home for the kind-hearted care they gave to Michelle over the last four years; as well as the staff and volunteers at VNA Home Health Hospice who provided compassionate and respectful care during Michelle's last year with us.
