Michael Richard Valente

Portland- Michael R. Valente, 79, of Gorham, passed away on November 15, 2015 in Portland surrounded by his family. He was born on October 8, 1936, a son of Frederick and Josephine (Piscopo) Valente. He served in the Air Force for 6 years. Mike loved horses and going for long walks. He enjoyed watching football. He loved the Patriots and the Yankees and wore his Yankees hat proudly.

He is survived by his daughters, Joann Smith and her husband Kevin, Lucille Ferrante and her husband Timothy; grandchildren, Samantha Ann Leader and husband Brian, Chris Smith, Ashley Ferrante and Clarissa Evelyn King; great-grandchild, Gavin Christopher Leader.

The family would like to thank Allison Reece, his speech therapist at Sedgewood Commons, for all that she did for Mike.

A time of visitation will be held from 1-3 pm on Friday, November 20, 2015 at Jones Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland, followed by a service at 3 pm. Inurnment will be at the Pieta Niche at Calvary Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals, P.O. Box 10, South Windham, ME 04082-0010
