Portland- Maxine (Conant) Coyne Morgan, 92, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2018 at Falmouth by The Sea. Maxine was born in Easton, ME on October 31, 1925, the daughter of Sadie E. (Saunders) and William Ray Conant.
Maxine grew up living on a farm with her family in Fort Fairfield, attending local schools. After completion of school, she moved to Portland, where she trained at Mercy hospital to be a Laboratory Technician. She met Joseph B. Coyne and they got married in 1947, having four children. She continued to work at Mercy Hospital while raising their children on the West End of Portland and they were members of St. Dominic’s Parish.
Maxine married John M. Morgan on August 30, 1965. John and Maxine married while John was in the Air Force. John was stationed at several different Air Force Bases during his 20 years in the Air Force, which allowed Maxine and John the opportunity to travel. After retirement from the military, Maxine and John worked at the Maine Youth Center as counselors.
Maxine enjoyed spending her time with her family, traveling, painting, gardening and she had a love for music.
Maxine is survived by her husband, John M. Morgan; their children, Maureen (Coyne) and Robert E. Norris, Brian S. Coyne and Katie (Coyne) Boyd; grandchildren, Matthew Boyd and Ann Coyne; Great grandchildren, Pierce Gould and Mason Boyd; sisters, Barbara Dionne and Louis Webb and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Maxine was predeceased by her first husband; son, Thomas W. Coyne; brothers, William, Lewis, Phillip, Robert and Warren; sister, Mary (Conant) Duncan and good friend, Dawn Philbrick.
A Celebration of Maxine’s Life will be held at Maine Irish Heritage Center 34 Gray St, Portland, ME 04102 on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 2:00 P.M.
