Mary Bernadette Griffin

Lyman – Mary Bernadette (Giusti) Griffin, 79, formally of Kennebunk, passed away peacefully December 23, 2016 in Dover, New Hampshire at The Hyder Family Hospice House. She was born September 7, 1937 in Portland, the daughter of Nicola and Irene (Mancini) Giusti.

Mary graduated from Portland High School 1955. After graduation she worked as a secretary at a local insurance agency, eventually going to work for Maine Savings Bank as a secretary and working her way up to real estate appraiser. After she retired she started her own real estate appraisal business. On October 26, 1957, she married the love of her life, Richard Griffin.

Mary enjoyed gardening and crafting at her home, decorating her house (which she took great pride in), she was a snowbird with her husband Richard the last 30 plus years in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, but most of all, she enjoyed spending countless hours with her grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her husband of 59 years, Richard Griffin; daughters, Janet Griffin-Vaughan and her husband Richard and Stephanie Emery and her husband Randy; five grandchildren, Alexander, Stephen, and Caitlin Vaughan, Mackenzie and Michaela Brogan; sisters, Rosa Jacobsky and Carol Ann Giusti; brother, Nicola Giusti Jr., and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her three brothers, Santino, Camillo, and Robert Giusti.

Friends may call Friday, December 30, 2016 from 5-8pm at Jones, Rich and Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland, ME 04103. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 10am at St. Peters Catholic Church, 72 Federal St. Portland, ME 04101
