Mary E. (Geary) Darling

Portland, ME - Mary E. (Geary) Darling, 87, of Old Orchard Beach and formerly of Yarmouth died on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Maine Medical Center.  She was the wife of the late Frank A. Darling Jr. Who died in 1992.

She was born in Bangor, ME on April 30, 1931, the third daughter of the late Edward B. and Margaret A. (Reidy) Geary.  She grew up in Old Orchard Beach and was a member of the Old Orchard Beach High School graduating class of 1949.  During her high school years, she enjoyed being a cheerleader and playing basketball.

Mary and Frank celebrated 35 years of marriage.  She and Frank loved going out into the Casco Bay on their boat and playing pool.  She worked for New England T&T and Desmond & Payne Insurance Co.  After her husband passed away, she went to work for Lindquist Funeral Home in Yarmouth.

Mary was an animal lover, having both cats and dogs over the years.  She enjoyed candlepin bowling, reading and walks on the beach.  Her family remembers her especially for her quick wit.

Mary is survived by several nieces and nephews.  She was the sister of the late Anna C. Clark of Dover, NH and Margaret Grandy of Old Orchard Beach.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Louise Reid, Richard Lauman, and Herb and Dot Drew, who were caring, kind and supporting friends.
