Marlene Rae Hansen was born in Portland, Maine on July 15, 1955 and passed away on July 27, 2011. Marlene grew up on Peaks Island and spent most of the remainder of her life a resident of the Westbrook/Portland/South Portland area.
As a child Marlene attended Camp Pine Tree which she thoroughly enjoyed. She also loved playing paper dolls with one of her aunts. Marlene was the March of Dimes Easter Seal Poster Girl in 1961 because of this honor she was a guest on the Romper Room local Television show. She enjoyed crocheting and was always sure to welcome new babies into the family with crochet dolls, animals or blankets. One of her favorite past times was sitting up late in her kitchen drinking tea and sharing life’s joys and woes with her dear friend Arlene. Marlene was a proud grandmother and loving mother, sister, auntie and friend. She surrounded herself by her large family, who will proudly tell you that Marlene was the glue that held them all together. She opened her arms welcomingly and gave her heart freely to the ones she loved. Words cannot express how much this woman was loved and how sorely missed she will be.
Marlene is predeceased by her father, Ray Hansen; mother, Barbara Souza; brother, Paul Hansen, Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Brosseau; step daughter, Betty Jo Hodgkin Cash; two grandchildren, Danielle and James Brosseau; four brothers, Daniel Hansen and his wife Betty, Martin Hansen , Charles Hansen, Gregory Souza; three sisters, Donna Egeland and her husband Norman(deceased), Alma Glenn and her husband Walter, Denise “Toni” Murphy and her husband Bernard and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many cherished friends.
