Scarborough – Our beloved aunt, sister and friend, Louise M. Adams, went peacefully to be with her Lord on Monday, March 17, 2025, while family members were by her side. Louise was born on January 25, 1930, to Clarence Jackson Gray, Sr and Marie Elizabeth Tingley in Portland, Maine. She grew up in the Munjoy Hill area of Portland. On July 2, 1948, she married Herbert Royal Adams. They had one child, Roxanne Marie Adams. Louise was a long-time employee of the grocery store chain Shaws. She enjoyed her big loving family, traveling, reading, good times with her friends especially those at Park Danforth who coined her “The Queen” and her dear Maine Mall crew. Throughout her 95 years, Louise persevered through life’s challenges with grace, kindness, humor, positivity and a deep concern and care for others. She always shared words of encouragement, wisdom and hope. She had a sharp wit, a radiant smile and she sparkled like a diamond.
Louise is predeceased by her husband Herbert Adams and daughter Roxanne Adams, her parents Clarence and Marie (Gray) Kidder and her brother Kenneth. She is survived by her brothers Harold Gray, Howard J. (Marjorie) Gray, sister-in-law Cynthia Adams and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to staff at Maine Medical Center, MaineHealth Cardiology, the Gosnell House, and Park Danforth for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland and the Portland Fire Department.
