After graduating from South Portland High School in 1975, Karen embarked on a lifetime of encouraging and edifying others. Perhaps it was her vivacious, cheerleader’s spirit, or the natural heart of a peacemaker, Karen was always in the midst of building, or repairing, relationships; all the while pointing the way to God. Roughly 30 years of Karen’s life were dedicated to Tucker Anthony, now known as RBC Dain Rauscher, where Karen came into her own while making lifelong friends along the way. The last two years of Karen’s life were spent living with and caring for her mother, Betty Emery, and with precious Spartacus, Karen’s Maine Coon Cat, by her side. Shortly after Karen’s passing, and also unexpectedly, Spartacus went to be with his beloved mommy.
Karen was preceded in death by her father, Russell H. Emery, in 2012. Karen is survived by her mother Betty L. (Bridges) Emery, sister Catherine L. (James R.) Matz, sister Ellen E. Ross and fiancé William G. Ingraham, sister Jennifer E. (Thomas) Morrell, as well as eight nieces and nephews: Rachel L. Matz, Daniel Matz, Matthew J. Ross, Nathaniel J. Ross, Rebecca M. Morrell Red, Sarah A. Morrell, Rachel H. Morrell, and Jillian M. (T. Ryan) Pomeroy.
The family would like to thank the Viola Family, Robin, Philip, Caleb, and Noah, for their tireless help with meals, insulin shots for Spartacus, and snow clearing during this time.
A Visitation for Karen will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 3-5 PM at Jones, Rich and Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland, Maine 04103. Immediately following the Visitation, there will be a Funeral Service at 5 PM.
