Tom, age 90, took his last breath late in the evening on March 5th. He was surrounded by family and went peacefully to join those who had gone before him. He is survived by his four children, Laura, Peter, John, and Julie, their spouses Margaret and David, as well as grandchildren Kayla, Abigail, Marie, Haley, Julia, Olly, Owen, Benjamin, and many nieces, nephews and cousins in the extended Crump and Brown families. His children wish to express their deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff at Compassus, for their dedication and support.
Born in Cambridge MA, Tom grew up in Massachusetts and New Hampshire spending summers at his grandparents’ farm, Beaver Brook, in Vermont. Throughout his entire life, he shared fond memories and stories about his adventures there. He eventually settled in Maine where he raised his family and pursued his career as an entrepreneur.
Tom was a voracious reader, lifelong learner, ruthless cribbage player, loyal Republican, a natural athlete playing All-American Lacrosse, Semi-Pro Football, and an avid swimmer. He was a staunch advocate for family get-togethers and his legacy will be the continuation of the Crump Reunions he established with his siblings. His dry wit contributed to his own special brand of Dad humor. Like many men of his generation, he was not the most comfortable expressing emotion. However, he had a knack for writing a heartfelt letter to let you know, he was proud of you, and that he loved you.
A memorial service will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Wilmington, VT this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the following organizations in Lincoln, NH - extending his efforts to give back to a town that gave so much to him.
