Judy was born in Portland on July 29, 1950 to Donald and Marjorie Curry (Willette) and spent her childhood living happily in Portland with her parents and her younger brother. She graduated from Deering High School in 1968 and soon afterwards met the love of her life, Robert Roy of Lewiston, ME in 1969 at a dance at Serenity Hill in Naples. They were married on September 5, 1970 and spent 53 blissful years together. Though their true home was always in Maine, they spent many years raising their family and living away in New Hampshire, South Carolina and Connecticut, finally returning home to Maine in 2001 to live in Raymond on the shores of Little Sebago Lake. After staying home to raise her children while they were young, Judy returned to work at Cigna Healthcare for 12 years and in the student accounts department at the University of Southern Maine for 13 years, retiring in 2015.
Always one to greet people with a smile, Judy will be remembered for her warm personality, kindness, positive attitude, sense of humor and compassion. Even a brief meeting with Judy made one feel as if they had been lifelong friends. Throughout her life, and especially in retirement, Judy loved to cook, travel, entertain and chat with friends (she was an expert in texting with emojis). Most of all she loved spending time with her family and made countless happy memories with her husband, children and grandchildren. Affectionately known as Mimi to her family, Judy was the heartbeat of her family and will be dearly missed.
Judy is survived by her husband Robert Roy of Raymond, ME; daughter Jennifer Stevens and her husband Travis of Hayama, Japan; son Jared Roy of Portland, ME; brother Donald Curry II, and his wife Kathie of Saco, ME; and granddaughters Emma and Jillian Stevens of Hayama, Japan. She is predeceased by her father Donald Curry and her mother Marjorie Curry of Portland, ME.
